Xbox Controller Keeps Disconnecting: Causes & Fixes
Stop your Xbox controller from randomly dropping its connection to console or PC.
Update firmware
Outdated firmware is the most common cause. Update via the Xbox Accessories app on console or Windows.
Battery level
Weak batteries cause dropouts before they die completely. Test with fresh batteries.
Wireless interference
Keep the controller within 6 meters and away from routers, USB 3.0 hubs and metal objects. On PC, use the Xbox Wireless Adapter instead of Bluetooth for a stable link.
Re-pair the controller
Remove the controller from Bluetooth devices, then pair again from scratch.
Test with USB
If it never disconnects on USB, the wireless module or antenna is the issue.
