How to Fix Sticky Controller Buttons
Clean buttons that stick, feel mushy, or don't spring back.
Why buttons get sticky
Sugary drinks, skin oils and dust build up around the button edges and on the rubber membrane underneath.
Clean without opening
Dampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and work it around the button gap while pressing the button repeatedly. Let it dry for 10 minutes.
Deep clean
If cleaning around the edge doesn't help, open the controller, remove the rubber membranes, and wash them in warm soapy water. Dry fully before reassembly.
Verify the fix
Use our Gamepad Tester and press each button 20 times. Every press should register instantly with no missed inputs.
